Blogmas Day 10 - My Favourite Christmas Songs

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well.  Christmas during Covid had been so different this year. It has been difficult not seeing family much at this time of the year. It has been nice doing FaceTime chats and it’s a good way to see each other's Christmas trees and chat like we usually do during our visits.

I have been listening to Christmas music a lot lately. It is a comfort to me at the time if the year and brings a sense of normalcy. I like to listen to the radio too because they play a good assortment of music and it is interesting also to hear the chatting they sometimes do. I am currently listening to 98.1 CHFI for you Canadians out there. It is a good one, and they start playing Christmas music mid-November which I love because I am ready for Christmas celebrations on November 1st.  A lot of music reminds me of Christmases past, some good and some sad. I love the music because it is full of warmth, hope, and wonder. Please join me for a list of five of my favourite songs this year I have been listening to.

1. River - Joni Mitchell

This song is so slow and the tune has a lot of emotion. It was featured in the Netflix film Dash & Lily this year and I loved it. It isn't an overly Christmas song, it does have the tune of Jingle Bells in the background and she speaks of winter weather.

2. All I Want for Christmas is You - Mariah Carey

This one is a classic and probably one of most people’s favourite Christmas songs. It is one that I only start listening to in December when we are well into the Christmas season. It really gets me into the Christmas spirit just listening to it. It reminds me of when I was a child and my parents always made Christmas so special and the anticipation of the day was so huge to have Santa visit and bring us presents.

3. Must Be Christmas - Band of Merrymakers

This song is so uplifting, and is great for early days of Christmas to get into the spirit. This song is on my list of favourite songs on Spotify. I have listened to it a lot over the last couple of years.

4. The Night Before Christmas - Amy Grant

This one reminds me of my childhood. I don’t know why it does but it gives me a comforting feeling. It is a more spiritual and religious song and she mentions wisemen and angels. This song is just so beautiful and gets me into the spirit.

5. Underneath the Tree - Kelly Clarkson

This song always makes me think of when I was going through a career change, and it was a comfort listening to Kelly’s new album that came out that year. it was also a different time of actually buying CDs which was special. I still own her album. It is uplifting and fast paced and it is a romantic song. I love Kelly, she is an amazing singer, and I really love her Christmas album.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! I hope you enjoyed this Blogmas post for day 10! Christmas music is such a comfort to me and it lifts my mood. This is because it reminds me of my favourite time of year, when I’m spending time with my family and everything feels right in the world on Christmas day. There is a happy calm Christmas morning. All the shopping is done, you open presents, and have a  big meal together with family. Nothing beats this day for me all year long. What are your favourite Christmas songs, or other holiday songs if you are celebrating another holiday?

Have a good day!
