Pattern from Brome Fields

It was fun knitting this stitch! I think it would make any piece look lovely. I was thinking it would look great on a hat or blanket. I will be making this piece into a cowl for this winter. It is hard to see from the dark photo but the yarn is so sparkly and makes me think of New Year's Day.

How to Knit the Caterpillar Stitch - Stitchy Saturday

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. For today's post, I am sharing how to knit the caterpillar stitch. It is a fun and easy stitch to knit up.

Caterpillar Stitch

Pattern:

Cast on in multiples of 6

Row 1: K1, P5  Right side
Row 2: K5, P1  Wrong side
Row 3: K1, P5
Row 4: K5, P1
Row 5: K1, P5
Row 6: K5, P1
Row 7: P3, K1, P2
Row 8: K2, P1, K3
Row 9: P3, K1, P2
Row 10: K2, P1, K3
Row 11: P3, K1, P2
Row 12: K2, P1, K3

Repeats row 1-12

Pattern from Studio Knit

What I thought:
It was an easy stitch that is repetitive and ends up giving a nice texture to the finished knitted piece. I like the caterpillar-like formations made by knit stitches in lines popping out among the purled stitches. I would use this stitch pattern at the bottom of a hat to add texture.

Knitter level: beginner
This pattern is simple, repetitive and very easy to follow. I think it would be a fun stitch pattern for a beginner to try as a good way introduce themselves to knitting a pattern.

How to Knit the Tear Drop Knitting Stitch - Stitchy Saturday

Hello Friends,

I hope you are all doing well. This week I decided to reintroduce the "Stitchy Saturday" posts because I missed it and I am doing NaBloPoMo and decided to bring back the Saturday stitch posts. I have seen the tear drop stitch many times in knitting projects finished on Instagram and always thought it made the perfect detail to the bottom of a sweater or on a hat. I had a lot of fun knitting it and I am thinking of using this stitch in a future project.

 Tear drop stitch

Knitted in a multiple of 4 stitches  plus 1 additional stitch.
Row 1 - Right side: P1, * (k1, p1, k1, p1, k1) in next stitch, p3; repeat from * to end.

Row 3: P1, * k5, p3; repeat from * to end.
Row 4: * K3, p5; repeat from * to last st, k1.

Repeat rows 2 - 13.
Bind off on Row 7 or Row 13, omitting the increases.

Knitting abbreviations:

Sl 1-k2tog-psso: Slip stitch as if to knit, knit 2 stitches together, pass slipped stitch over.
Pattern used from KnittingstitchPatterns.com

What I thought:
It was fun to knit this stitch. I liked the repetition and learned how to make 1 stitch into 5 by knitting and purling into the same stitch. It was a bit tricky at times, but watching the video knitting stitch patterns blog posted helped me to learn to do the stitch. I think I enjoyed knitting this stitch so much because as you are knitting, you can easily see the pattern forming and it looks really nice.

Knitter level:
Intermediate- advanced:
I would rate this stitch pattern from intermediate to advanced because at times it can be a bit fiddly when you are knitting rows 7 and 13 then making 5 stitches out of 1. I had a difficult time at some points and had to remember how to do it properly. There are also many rows to keep track of, as usual I just highlighted the rows as I went along as to not forget which row I was working on.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, it is always a pleasure to read your comments and your feedback on the stitch patterns. Have you knitted this stitch before and what did you make with it? Stitchy Saturday: How to Knit the Chickadee Bubbles Stitch

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. This week I decided to knit the Chickadee Bubbles Stitch. I found a lovely photo of the stitch on Pinterest by @woolvan knits and I wanted to give it a try. I love the look of this stitch and it was a lot of fun to knit up!

Chickadee Bubbles Stitch
For my swatch, I cast on 20 + 3 stitches and knitted the 12 row repeat three times

Pattern:
Knit 4 below: Insert needle in stitch in the 5th row down, drop stitch off needle and unravel 4 rows down, and knit, catching the 4 loose strands behind stitch. (Directions with photos below)
With color A, cast on a multiple of 4 stitches + 3.
Row 1 - wrong side: purl.
Row 2 - right side: knit.
Row 3:  purl.
Row 4: knit.
Row 5: purl.
Row 6:  knit 3, * knit 4 below, knit 3; rep from * to end
Row 7: purl.
Row 8: knit.
Row 9: purl.
Row 10: knit.
Row 11: purl.
Row 12:  knit 1, * knit 4 below, knit 3; rep from * to last 2 stitches, knit 4 below, knit 1.
Repeat Rows 1 - 12

Knitting pattern from Knitting Stitch Patterns.

Instructions on how to do *knit 4 below:

1. After knitting the three (row 6) or one required stitches (row 11), on the next stitch, count five holes down below the stitch

2. Then put needle through the fifth hole below the stitch

3.  Drop the first stitch on the left needle, then pull the stitch down until there are four rows of dropped stitch visible

 4. Then wrap your yarn around the right needle to make a knit stitch and pull through

 5. Once you have knit the stitch, it will look like the photo below, then continue on to knit three stitches

It will look like the photo below once the three stitches are knitted, then repeat steps 1 through 5 to complete the knit four below step in the chickadee bubble stitch pattern.

What I thought of the stitch pattern:
I loved this pattern, it is so fun to knit up and does not take a lot of time. I really love the finishing texture and I think it would be so fun for a hat and give it such a fun unique look.

Knitting level:
I think that this could be done by a beginner knitter because it looks hard, but it requires mostly knit and purls and then if you follow the photos above to knit the "knit 4 below" technique, it is not that difficult to do.

Stitchy Saturday Tassel Stitch

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I have been good, I am enjoying knitting the Age of Brass and Steam kerchief it is such a fun knit. I am happy it is the weekend, today my boyfriend and I are going to have a barbecue with friends,, then I will be visiting my family. It is such a sunny day today and feels warm outside so it is the perfect day for a barbecue and spending time outside. I came across the tassel stitch, when browsing for stitch ideas this week and it looked fun to knit. I enjoyed the simple pattern and I hope that if you try it out, that you enjoy it too!

Tassel Stitch

Pattern:

Cast On in Multiple of 6 + 1
Row 1 : * K4, P2 * K1
Row 2: P1 * K2, P4 *
Row 3 : * K4, P2 * K1
Row 4: P1 * K2, P4 *
Row 5 : * Right Needle Btwn 4th & 5th stitches and draw through loop, K1, P2, K3 * K1

Row 6: P1 * P3, K2, P2TOG *
Row 7 : K1 * P2, K4 *
Row 8: * P4, K2 * P1
Row 9 : K1 * P2, K4 *
Row 10: * P4, K2 * P1
Row 11 : K3 * Right Needle Btwn 4th & 5th stitches and draw through loop, K1, P2, K3 * end with K1, P2, K1
Row 12: P1, K2, P1 * P3, K2, P2TOG * P3

Pattern from Studio Knit

What I thought:
I like the stitch, it was easy to knit up. It was good learning how to knit it. I would want to find out how to make it look symmetrical if I was knitting a scarf with this stitch. The left side of my work looked different than the right side. I think if I had knit a few more stitches it would have looked better with the full tassel stitch being complete on the left side. I think it is a fun texture and would be nice on a scarf or as a bag.

Knitter level:
Beginner: The stitch is easy to follow and the repetition is easy to learn after a few pattern repeats. It is a little confusing when reading the pattern to knit into the 4th and 5th stitch, but I watched the video created by Studio Knit and it was very simple after she explained it. You put the needle in between the 4th and 5th stitch then go to knit behind and then go back to the stitches that were skipped and continue the pattern.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, it is always nice to read your comments and get your feedback. Have you knitted this stitch pattern before? if so, what did you knit with the pattern?

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. Today we had my sister and her fiance over for dinner, it was wonderful getting together and it was the first time to have them both over together, as we have had my parents and my sister over before. What I thought:
I loved knitting this lace heart stitch pattern. It was so easy to follow and it was lovely to see the heart emerging from the pattern as I knitted. I think this stitch pattern would make a lovely detail on a scarf and blanket or the bottom of garments. I think this stitch pattern would be fun to use in knits for Valentine's Day and to be used in knitted gifts to show someone how much you care.

Knitter level:
Beginner: The stitch is easy to follow and the repetition is easy to learn after a few pattern repeats. The pattern involves only knits and purls, and knitting two stitches together. This is a good stitch pattern to practice and become familiar with knitting lace patterns.

What I thought:
I really enjoyed knitting this stitch pattern. I really enjoyed this stitch and will try to incorporate it into my knitting projects.

Stitchy Saturday: Diagonal Stitch

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I found this fun and easy diagonal stitch pattern on the blog Purl Avenue this week and had to give it a try! I hope that you like this stitch and give it a try just for fun!

Pattern used from Purl Avenue

What I thought:
I liked this stitch and thought it would make a lovely blanket. I was thinking that you could use two or three colors while making this stitch pattern. One could be for the purls going diagonally and one or two could be used for the knit stitches in the pattern. This would look amazing as a blanket.

Knitting Level:
Beginner: I found this stitch easy to follow and the simple knitting and purling made it perfect for knitters of all skill levels. I think this would be a fun stitch to try for a beginner knitter because the results are wonderful and it does not require too many complicated instructions.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, it is always nice to read your comments and get your feedback. Have you knitting this stitch pattern before? if so, what did you knit with the pattern?

Stitchy Saturday: Daisy Flower Stitch

Hello friends,

I hope you are doing well. I found this pattern on Pinterest today and thought it looked so pretty. It is Spring now but we have not yet experienced the Spring weather, it is so cold and rainy here right now. Let's hope for some warmer and sunnier days ahead. Maybe knitting more daisies will bring more sunshine and flowers in the near future!

 Daisy Flower Stitch

Pattern:

Multiples of 4 stitches + 1

I cast on 13 stitches (12+1) stitches for the swatch above

Row 1: Knit
Row 2: K1, *P3Tog keep on needle, YO, P3tog, K1 *
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: K1,P1,K1, *P3Tog keep on needle, YO, P3Tog, K1,* P1, K1

Pattern used from Studio Knit

What I thought:
I loved this stitch, it turns out very pretty when alternating colors. I alternated colors at each knit row and it was much easier to see the daisies emerge. I think this would be a great stitch for all knitting levels, it is a simple four row repeat, two of them just knitting and easy to learn the pattern repetition.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, it is always nice to read your comments and get your feedback. Have you knitting this stitch pattern before? if so, what did you knit with the pattern?

Stitchy Saturday Heart Vine Lace Panel Stitch

Hello friends,

I hope you are doing well. I found this stitch on Pinterest yesterday and loved it! it is called the Heart Vine Lace Panel stitch it is so nice with hearts running up the more repetitions you make in the ten row pattern. I made a mistake on the second repeat which is why it is not a perfect a heart as the first one. I might redo the stitch and retake a photo. I love how the heart turned out on the bottom, so defined and lovely. The pattern was a little tricky but I think with practice it would get easier and fun to see the hearts emerge the more you knit.

 Heart Vine Lace Panel stitch

Pattern:
Multiples of of 9 stitches, 10 rows make up the pattern
I knit two stitches at the end and beginning of the rows in my stitch swatch pictured above.

Row 1: k1, yo, k1, k2tog, p1, ssk, k1, yo, k1
Row 2 and all even rows: p4, k1, p4
Row 3:  k1, yo, k1, k2tog, p1, ssk, k1, yo, k1 (same as row 1)
Row 5: k2, k2tog, yo, p1, yo, ssk, k2
Row 7: k1, k2tog, yo, k1, p1, k1, yo, ssk, k1
Row 9: k2tog, yo, k2, p1, k2, yo, ssk
Row 10: p4, k1, p4

Pattern used from Knitting Bee

What I thought:
I like the stitch pattern, it can be a little difficult to knit up at times but it has a beautiful finish. I like the hearts and I think it would make a lovely Valentine's gift to knit up a scarf with this lace stitch or add this stitch onto a project to add the heart detail.

Knitter level:
I would say intermediate because it requires, yarn overs, slip stitches, and knitting two together. There are 10 rows in total and the even rows are the same. The pattern is harder to get in the rhythm of knitting compared to some others that are two or three row repeats. I had to always check the pattern to knit instead of just being able to knit out of memory. The even rows were simpler just being purl and knit.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, it is always nice to read your comments and get your feedback. Have you knitting this stitch pattern before? if so, what did you knit with the pattern?

Stitchy Saturday Arrowhead Lace stitch

Hello Friends,

I hope you are all doing well.  This week I found this Arrowhead Lace stitch pattern and thought it looked so beautiful. I loved knitting this lace stitch and seeing the "arrows" begin to appear in the knitting was wonderful. I cast on 21 stitches and the pattern calls for multiples of 10 + 1,  so I repeated the pattern once. There is also an arrow going downwards in the middle between the other arrows going upwards because of this repetition. I think this pattern would be lovely for a scarf, for the bottom of a sweater, or whatever you choose to add a pretty lace detail. I am realizing that I really love knitting lace patterns, they always look so lovely and delicate and it is always such a nice surprise at the end to see the pattern take shape.

Arrowhead Lace Stitch

Pattern:

Cast on a multiple of ten stitches, plus one (11, 21, 31, 41, and so on).

Row 1 (WS): Purl

Row 2 (RS): K1, *[yo, ssk] twice, k1, [k2tog, yo] twice, k1; rep from * to end

Row 3: Purl

Row 4: K2, *yo, ssk, yo, sl 2 knitwise-k1-p2sso, yo, k2tog, yo, k3; rep from *, end last rep k2

Rep rows 1-4.

Stitchy Saturday: Rickrack Rib Stitch Pattern

Hello Friends,

I hope you are all doing well. I have been feeling tired after getting back from our trip to the Dominican Republic. I guess it takes time after a vacation to get back into the regular routine. This week I found this Rickrack rib stitch pattern and I thought it was such a fun variation on the classic rib stitch. I followed Verypinkknits tutorial on YouTube and found it pretty easy to follow. Here are the details!

What stitch:
This week I tried the Rickrack Rib Stitch

Pattern:

Row 1: P1, *Ktbl the second stitch on the left needle (leaving that stitch on the needle), K the first stitch, pull both stitches off the left needle, P1*
Row 2: K1, *P into the second stitch on the left needle (leaving that stitch on the needle), P the first stitch, pull both stitches off the left needle, K1*
Repeat these two rows for the pattern.
To bind off, use Row 1 in the pattern and every time there are two stitches, bind off.
Pattern used from VeryPinkKnits website

What I thought:
I started this pattern using small needles (4.5 mm) and a thinner yarn. I decided to switch to size 13 needles and a chunky yarn and it made it much easier to knit into the back of the stitch. It was very difficult with the smaller needles because I had knitted too tightly and it was not loose enough to get into the back of the knit stitch. I liked this stitch I think it looks so interesting and I was happy that the zig-zags were visible in the photo above. I think it would be fun to use this stitch for a scarf or for a hat. Verypinkknits also shows you how to use this pattern in the round I find this very helpful in case I want to use this stitch in a hat one day.

Knitter level:
Intermediate: I set this as intermediate because although there are only two rows, some of the stitches can be a little more challenging. I think once a knitter has more experience with the basics then this pattern will be easier.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, it is always a pleasure to read your comments and your feedback on the stitch patterns. Have you knitted this stitch before and what did you make with it? Stitchy Saturday Seersucker Stitch

Hello Friends,

I hope you are all doing well. I tried the Seersucker stitch this week. It is a simpler stitch and consists of knitting and purling and includes repetition of rows, which makes it easier.  In the end you have diamond shapes in your knitting which would be a nice detail on hats, scarves, and blankets.

What stitch:

This week I tried the Seersucker Stitch

Pattern:
Cast on multiples of 4
Rows 1 and 2: K1, P1, K1, P1
Row 3: P1, K3
Row 4: P3, K1
Rows 5  and 6: K1, P1, K1, P1
Row 7: K2, P1, K1
R01 8: P1, K1, P2
Repeat rows  1-8

What I thought:
I like the pattern because it is simple and easy to follow. I like the way the stitch pattern looks like rows of diamonds when finishing the 8 rows. I would use this stitch to add texture to scarves, hats, blankets.

Knitter level:
Beginner:  It is a simple pattern and I think this one would be perfect for new knitters because it is only using knitting and purling and not too challenging, but still fun when you see the result!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, it is always a pleasure to read your comments and your feedback on the stitch patterns. Have you knitted this stitch before and what did you make with it? Stitchy Saturday: Spring Stitch Knitting Pattern

Hello Friends,

I hope you are all doing well. This week on Stitchy Saturday I am talking about the Spring Stitch. This stitch looked so interesting and would be a lot of fun to knit up. I could see this stitch being used for many projects! It looks like a bobble stitch but you can see the loops of the yarn that have a spring-like appearance. The same of the stitch is just perfect as it was the first day of Spring this past week!

What stitch:

This week I tried the Spring Stitch

Pattern:

Use the needles that the yarn calls for.
It needs to be a multiple of 4
Repeat from * to *
K=knit
P=purl
RS= right side
WS= wrong side

Cast on your stitches.
# rows as your base:
K1 row RS
P1 row WS
K1  row RS
Row 1.- WS.- k1 for edge, *k1 with 8 wraps around the 2 needles, k1, p2*. end with a k1 with wraps, k1 and k1 for edge.

* If you would like alternating springs like in the photo above, P2 then wrap yarn around 8 times and knit and then continue pattern so the springs are not on top of each other.
Row 2.- RS.- Knit the whole row.
Repeat these 2 rows until desired length.
End work with:
P 1row WS
K 1row RS
Bind off purlwise.

Pattern found on the Youtube channel Joannesweb (she calls it the worm stitch)

What I thought:
I really loved this pattern, I know I always say that, but this one was very fun to knit. It was repetitive and relaxing and the springs are really cute! I loved feeling the spring sections of the swatch after I was done and I was getting inspired to knit a project using this adorable stitch pattern. I think it would look so nice on a hat or cowl.

Knitter level:
Beginner: It looks challenging, but to get the spring look of the pattern it is simply wrapping the yarn around 8 times and then knitting. The rest is just knit and purl. I was sure I would find this one challenging but it wasn't too challenging and I started to get into the rhythm of the pattern and didn't even need to look at the pattern in front of me to knit the stitch pattern after a short while.

Stitchy Saturday: Horseshoe Lace Stitch

Hello Friends,

I hope you are all doing well. This week on Stitchy Saturday I am talking about the Horseshoe Lace stitch. I have always been fascinated by lace stitch patterns, they look so lovely and are a good addition to the bottoms of sweaters and scarves and shawls. I found this stitch pattern while browsing Pinterest this week and I loved the look of this lace stitch pattern so much I had to give it a try!

What stitch:

This week I tried the Horseshoe Lace stitch

Even Rows are on the wrong side.

8.- Purl.

Pattern from Joanesweb. She posted a video tutorial that I followed and it is very helpful!

What I thought:
I loved knitting this pattern, it was exactly the challenge I needed right now. I think we all get to a point in our craft when we just have to spice things up a bit.  I enjoyed this pattern because it is beautiful and you could see the details of the pattern unfolding as you knit.  I think this stitch would be a beautiful detail on the cuff of a sock, on the bottom of a sweater, or at the end of a scarf, anywhere to add a lace detail. It would make any project look more beautiful. I think this stitch pattern would look even more beautiful with a finer yarn. I used worsted weight yarn and it looks a bit chunky.

Knitter level:
Intermediate. This lace pattern requires experience in knitting with yarn overs, slip stitch, and knitting two stitches together, I had to restart knitting the swatch a few times because I was ending up with an extra stitch. I think it is helpful to read the pattern over first before knitting along with the video, in order to have an understanding of the pattern which changes frequently.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, it is always nice to read your comments and get your feedback. Have you knitted this stitch pattern before?
