Quick Update on Knitting, Cross Stitching, and Reading this week

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I have had a busy week and that is why this post is coming to you on a Friday. Happy Friday by the way! This morning I completed my cross stitch lettering and will move onto the flowers next. It still looks different because for the letters backstitching is needed afterwards to complete them, which I will work on at the end.

I have also been knitting more of the Simple Lines baby blanket for my sister's baby. Her baby shower is coming up quick in March, so this weekend I will be mostly knitting.

I am still reading those same books, not much change for me week to week in reading. I am reading Didn't See that Coming by Rachel Hollis and Lean In By Sheryl Sandberg. I have a couple of books out from the library in my queue, so I really want to finish these to get started on a new book.

Thank you for stopping by for my quick post. I hope to share another longer one soon and visit your blogs this weekend. Take care!

Have a good day!

Knitting Baby Blanket, Cross Stitching, and Reading On

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I had a great long weekend spending time with Liam for Valentine's. Day, setting up more furniture in our home, and chatting with family and my friend. It was back to work for me on Tuesday, and it has been busy. We got a lot of snow yesterday and I went out and did a bit of shoveling. I am grateful this winter that I don't have to drive to the office in bad weather. I like how my workplace handles bad weather, they always let us go home early to work from home or choose to work from home if we know in advance if there is a snowstorm. It is just nice not to have to go to the office at all during these Winter months. I am enjoying working from home and feel like I can do my job well at home. Which is a blessing during this time.

I am still knitting the baby blanket using the pattern Simple Lines Baby Blankets by Heather Tucker. I am liking how the blanket is turning out so far. I want to finish it for the beginning of March, so I have been knitting every day lately to make more progress.

I have finished more of the first part of the cross stich of the lettering of the I can't adult today cross stitch. I just need to do the t on the end of can't and the "today" part under adult in the middle. It has been fun so far learning this new skill and I have enjoyed the new challenge.

I am reading Didn't See That Coming by Rachel Hollis and Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg. I am really enjoying these books.

Thank you for visiting my blog today and I hope you are having a good week too. Some restrictions are lifting this week for Covid in the GTA, but not in Toronto yet. This virus and lockdown feels like it is never ending. I am hoping it starts getting better in the Summer months again like last year. Be safe!

Have a good day!

Knitting Baby Blanket and Reading On

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. This is a busy week at work for me. Also I have gifts to buy for birthdays, an upcoming baby shower for my sister, and Valentine's day. Sometimes It just feels like everything is happening all at once. I am enjoying the busyness of this week and feel like it energizes me and motivates me.

I am continuing to knit the baby blanket for my sister's baby due in April. I am so excited to have a nephew, it is actually surreal. I can't wait for the day to hold my nephew in my arms. It will be so special. I am also excited for him to be cuddling with this blanket I make him. I am using the pattern Simple Lines Baby Blanket by Heather Tucker. I am knitting the large blanket so it will be big enough to cuddle with and they can use it in the stroller or for him to lie down on. I still have a ways to go with it, but it is coming along. I have until March 14th which is the baby shower to knit it. I will finish earlier and wash it first before gifting it.

I am still working on my cross stitch. It is coming along. I am following a video with step by step instructions on YouTube which helps a lot. It says I can't adult today with flowers around it. I am stitching the main part of the letters now and then will do the backstitching afterwards to complete it.

I am still reading Didn't See That Coming by Rachel Hollis. She writes the book as a guide to getting through difficult times. I can see how it would be comforting if going through loss of a loved one, or something happens to you that is upsetting. It feel like a friend is helping you through it. I am looking forward to reading more. I am reading Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg. I am really enjoying this book and learning a lot about the realities of the workforce for women and how we can thrive. I think I will get a lot out of this book and apply it to my own career.

Trying a New Hobby, and Knitting a Baby Blanket

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. This week is flying by! I can't believe it is Wednesday already. I am happy it is almost the weekend. This weekend is a very special one in our little world here, because we are finally getting a sectional couch for our living room! We spent a lot of time thinking of what we wanted, and decided on a gray sectional sofa-bed. If we have guests over (when Covid is finally over) we have somewhere people can sleep. We are excited that we are making our new condo townhouse more of a home and perfect for us.

I started a new hobby this past weekend and it is really enjoyable. Cross stitching! Some of you may know that I was planning to try it out this year. I am so glad I got this "I can't Adult today" cross stitching kit. It is a fun design, and I can't wait to hang it up somewhere after it is done. I bought this one online from Michaels.

I had no idea what I was doing at first. I watched a couple of videos, and then just tried to wing it. I ended up with a pretty nice U of the design, but realized I should follow some sort of pattern or way of doing this that is more efficient. I found a video on YouTube by HeathersHappyStitches to help guide me with steps on stitching in the right order. Her instructions are clear and easy to follow along. I have always looked to videos on YouTube to help me with knitting projects. I find watching someone guide me through it a helpful way for me to learn.

It is fun trying out new hobbies. I love knitting, but it is fun to step outside the box a bit like I have seen so many other knitters and crocheters do. It is fun try out something new once and awhile to challenge myself. What are some other hobbies you enjoy?

I started knitting a baby blanket for my sister, she is due in late April. She is having a baby boy and I am so excited to be an aunt! We used to talk about having kids so much and now the time is here for her and she will be a great mom. She loves the color gray for baby items and her wardrobe, so I went with what I know she would love and got a bunch of gray yarn to start the blanket.

I got Snuggly Wuggly yarn by Loops & Threads in the colorway "soft Gray". It looks a bit beige at times in the different lighting, but she likes beige too so that will work. I got five balls of yarn, and think I will even have some left over to knit up a hat or some booties. I can't wait to see all the little baby things together. I am knitting the blanket using the pattern Simple Lines baby Blanket found on Ravelry by Heather Tucker.

This is the wrong side of the pattern

I am still reading Didn't See that Coming by Rachel Hollis and Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg. To be honest, I haven't been reading a lot lately. I mostly read in the mornings, but I have been focused on knitting, cross stitching, doing yoga, or meditating. I want to prioritize reading again to finish these great books soon. I really benefit from using my mornings for reading and other things that fill me up for the day and help me to feel refreshed and happy.

I had to share an adorable picture of my parent's cat Moo from last weekend that makes me smile. I have to have some cat content on the blog once and awhile! My mom always shows me their cats Moo and Roo in our Facetime calls because since moving away, my sister and I miss seeing "the guys" we call them. I miss visiting and petting them and cuddling them.
