Blogmas Day 5: My Christmas Bucket List

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. This year is different because of the global pandemic Covid-19. It has made this year very difficult for a lot of people and in many different ways. It can make the holidays especially hard for some, but much needed for others. I feel like I needed this Christmas to come to be able to celebrate and do some of the cherished traditions and also make some new ones. It is a very different Christmas this year. No Christmas markets, no parades, and social distanced visits with family and friends. One thing that remains, is enjoying some of the comforts of spending Christmas at home. I love being home and cozy by the tree, baking, drinking, and being merry. These are still things I am enjoying this time of the year. Please join me for a list of some things I want to do this holiday season to enjoy Christmas even during these difficult times.

1. Bake different types of cookies.

The past two years I have made peanut butter blossom cookies and short bread cookies. I really enjoyed them, especially the peanut butter blossom cookies. I want to bake more cookies this holiday season, because baking during quarantine is very comforting and I also enjoy the cookies. I want to try making some different holiday classic cookies I haven't tried before. I will be sharing the recipes with you every Sunday leading up to Christmas.

I found a recipe for Chocolate Crinkle cookies from Sally's Baking Addiction. These look so delicious, I will trying this recipe this season.

2. Make mulled wine

I have had mulled wine before at the Christmas market in Distillery District and it is so delicious. Because we can't go this year and enjoy their mulled wine while freezing outside, I thought maybe I will try my hand at making some. It would be fun and I am planning on making it next weekend. Gimme Some Oven has a recipe that looks great and easy to follow. I will be using it to make my mulled wine. It will be good to learn this recipe and I can make it for future family dinners around the holidays.

3. Decorate a gingerbread house

One thing I haven't done in a long time is decorate a gingerbread house. I used to do this so much as a child and it's something so fun to do even as an adult to design your house and eat candies and chocolate while decorating. I might try to get Liam to help me out on this one too!  It probably won't look as good as the photo below, but that is okay and part of the fun!

4. Drive-Thru to see holiday lights

Growing up, my family and I would always drive around and look at lights on Christmas eve. I still love looking at Christmas lights on houses. I was thinking of going to a light show drive through I think there are some going on in Toronto due to the coronavirus it is still something that people can do to enjoy the holiday season. If you live in the GTA and Toronto area, then you can visit the To Do Canada website here or their list of light displays going on December into January. Just a tip, you better reserve fast for these events because there were many locations, dates, and times that were already sold out. There are still late night display times available for example at the Holiday Nights of Lights in Vaughn where I bought tickets.
