I'm finished knitting the mittens!

Hello friends,

How are you today? I hope you are enjoying your work day or spending the day on yourself doing what you love.  I just finished knitting the mittens I've been working on last night! I was so excited because these are my very first pair of knitted mittens! I have knitted mittens in the past but I was never satisfied with how they turned out.  I have finally knitted a pair I love.  Of course for being my first pair they aren't perfect but I adore them.  Below are some photos of the finished project along with the hat that matches! I am so happy I have a matching set now, just before the real winter chill comes.
The pattern I used for the mittens was from Kelley's Mitten Class youtube videos.  She is an excellent teacher and it was so simple using her instructions.  It is a great way to learn how to knit hats and feels like someone is helping you learn to knit.  It is great for beginners and those who haven't knitted mittens before.  For the hat, I just measured my head which was 22 inches, then did a gauge and figured out that it was 2 stitches for each inch so I casted on 44 sttiches but then added an extra 2 for more wiggle room.  I knitted in ribbed stitch for a while then switched to knitting in the round.  Then closer to the top I decreased and casted off.  You can use the video I followed by going to the youtube video "how to knit a hat".  I used Homespun Thick & Quick Lion Brand wool for both the hat and mittens, please visit their website!  Happy Knitting!

The hat I knitted before the mittens with the same wool.

I hope you are all keeping warm with your own knitted mittens and hats!
Take care,
