Christmas in July - Christmas Knitting and Reading

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. Today is the first day of my Christmas posts in July for a whole week of festive blog posts ending on July 25th. I love Christmas and think about it quite often. The music, the feeling of cheer, the cozy decor, and time with family are all things I enjoy so much! I am happy I can celebrate a bit now and get a jump on some Christmas decor and gifts knitting for Christmas now.

I started knitting another ornament in the Patons Merry Fair Isle Knit Ornament collection last night. I got to row 12 of the pattern. It is nice knitting another one of the ornaments. They are fun and quick to knit up and will look good all together at Christmas hanging on the tree. I am doing chart 5 this time which is the Christmas tree design.

This chart is so helpful from the pattern and I refer to it a lot to see what color I am switching to. I am so excited to start seeing the Christmas tree emerging on the ornament as I knit.

This is the third ornament I am working on from the Merry Fair Isle Knit ornament collection. I have included pictures of the other ornaments below that I have knitted before. I am looking forward to having the whole collection of ornaments knitted one day.

In other non-Christmas related news, I have made some progress on the Waverly Weekend Cowl and it  is coming along. I love the design that is emerging. It is such a fun and relaxing knit to work on.

I started reading One Day in December by Josie Silver on Overdrive from the library. It is good so far and the beginning has the feeling of Christmas approaching as she sees a man she is interested in a few days before Christmas. I have heard it is not overly focused around Christmas, but has some notes of Christmas celebration. I think that would make it a good read for Christmas in July. It was a very popular book last Christmas and I didn't get to reading it, so I am excited to read it now. I am still reading my other books and I am almost done reading Average is the New Awesome by Samantha Matt.

There have been Christmas movies on the W channel on TV for the whole month of July. I knew about it, but haven't been watching them. I am recording one called Candy Cane Christmas to watch later while I bake some banana bread. I have a lot of ripe bananas to use up.

I will be working on knitting the ornament this week. I also have another fun Christmas in July ornament I will share later in the week. I have some other blog posts ideas up my sleeve for Christmas in July. Please visit daily because each day I will share a Christmas related post. I hope you are having a good weekend and keeping safe.

Have a great day!

  1. That is a very cute ornament. If I celebrated X-mas, I'd knit some for myself!
