Stitchy Saturday: Chevron Seed Stitch

Hello Friends,

Here is the second blog post of the new "Stitchy Saturday" feature. This week I knitted the Chevron Seed Stitch. I really love how this one turns out once you knit all four rows, you can see the zig zags emerging. I knitted this one up pretty quickly and it was fun to knit. I knitted 16 stitches across because this one calls for multiples of 8 stitches and I want to get that small square. It turned out to be 4 inches by 4 inches. I love the way this stitch turned out and was inspired to use it to make a hat someday it would look great. I may not have mentioned this is my last post, but I plan to connect the square to make something when I have made enogh squares such as a dishtowel, or a blanket.

What stitch:

This week I tried the Chevron Seed stitch.

Cast on multiples of 8
Row 1 - * P1,K3,P1,K3*
Row 2 - * K1,P5,K1,P1 *
Row 3 - * K2,P1,K3,P1,K1*
Row 4 - * P2,K1,P1,K1,P3*

What I thought:
I love the way this stitch turned out! The zig zag look is very fun and would decorate any hat, scarf, blanket. I was thinking while I was knitting it that you can make the zig zagging stitches a different color from the rest of the knitting so it stands out even more. I might experiment with that.

Knitter level:
Beginner: It required some more concentration. I did this one without listening to music or any other distractions so I could remember which row I was on and what part of the row since it is a repeated pattern on each row. The stitch only requires knitting and purling so it is not too difficult for a beginner knitter to tackle it.
