I am starting a new feature called "Stitchy Saturday". I will be trying a new stitch every Saturday and discuss how it went, and its difficulty, if I liked it, would I try it again and what I would knit with it. I have wanted to try more stitches for awhile now and I tried to encourage myself through my side panel stitch spot but although it does inspire me to try the stitches, I never get around to it. Hope you like the feature and let me know in the comments below what you think of the stitches, how they turned out or if you have made things with the stitch before.
What stitch:
This week I tried the Irish Moss stitch.
Pattern:
Cast on multiples of 2
Row 1 - * K 1, P 1 *
Row 2 - * K 1, P 1 *
Row 3 - * P 1, K 1 *
Row 4 - * P 1, K 1 *
What I thought:
This stitch appeals to me with its texture and pattern. I love the look of this stitch and I would use it for scarves, hats, blankets. This stitch would be perfect for a lot of projects. The stitch creates a stronger texture and it is also softer because of ball like texture that the pattern creates.
Knitter level:
Beginner: It was very easy to follow along with its simple and repetitive pattern and it would be great for beginner knitters to try something new.

That is a really nice alternative to moss stitch. I like the softer effect.
ReplyDeleteYes I like this one because of the repeat of the pattern and it does give it the softer look. Glad you like it! hope you have a good weekend
