Happy Halloween & How to Knit a Pumpkin!

Hello Friends!

I love Halloween and all it comes with, costumes, decor, candy and watching Halloween related . movies. I also enjoy seeing all the cute knitting creations on other people's blogs and Instagram. It is a lot of fun to see what you all are knitting and crocheting. Today I just finished knitting up a pumpkin just in time for Halloween! I will post photos of my completed pumpkin below and a video made by Studio Knit which I used to knit up my pumpkin. I loved following her videos on how to both knit the pumpkin and the i-cord which was new for me, I love knitting I-Cords they are fun and quick and turn out really nicely. Tonight I am going to stay in with my boyfriend and watch a cute Halloween movie like Hocus Pocus and eat chocolate and candy.

Here is the video I followed to knit the pumpkin by Studio Knit:

Happy Halloween, hope you all have a good one!

A Day spent Knitting, Reading and Blogging

Hello Friends,

I hope that you are having a good day and enjoying these final days of October. Today I was spending time knitting my second sock with Charisma Heather yarn by Loops & Threads as a Christmas gift to my mom. She liked the socks I knit her last year so I am making her another pair this time in the denim color she liked. My sister also requested a pair for Christmas so I will be busy! I love this time of the year, Halloween is soon approaching with the thoughts of my favorite holiday Christmas coming in a couple of months.

I started reading a book called Zen and the Art of Knitting by Bernadette Murphy which I am really enjoying so far. I thought I would share this book because it discusses knitting as an art form, the benefits of knitting, why people knit, and shares stories about people knitting who the author has interviewed. I am excited to read more of the book, I started reading it last night and I was reading more today. Here is my cat trying to get my yarn while I take a photo!

I have been on Instagram more often now posting photos and following other people and liking their photos. I am really happy having new followers and being able to see other people's projects which they knitted or crocheted. It truly is a wonderful community and I am proud to be a part of it. One Knitted Ribbed Hat

Hello friends,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I can't believe it's over already! I just finished knitting a ribbed stitch hat over the weekend and looking forward to wearing it when it gets colder. I have also started knitting some socks as a gift for my mom for Christmas which I will post about later this week! below are some photos of the hat I wanted to share with you.

A photo of myself wearing the hat

Pattern: the pattern is very simple
  • Cast on 70 stitches on magic loop needles( or more depending on the size of your head, needles, and yarn), divide stitches between the two needles
  • knit two stitches, then purl two stitches all the way around to create the ribbed stitch
  • Once you knit up to the crown of your head, begin to decrease
  • Decide how many decreases you would like to make on the decreasing rows (example: I knit 7 then knit together two, then repeated all around, then knit/purl a row, then the next row I knit 6 then knit together ...etc...)
  • Keep to the knitting and purling of the ribbed stitch pattern. On my first attempt I knit to decrease the top and it looked odd with garter stitch instead of ribbed stitch!
  • Once you end up with 6 or 7 stitches, pull the yarn through with a darning needles and then tie a knot and weave in the strand under the top of the hat.

Then you are finished! hope the pattern wasn't too confusing I made it up from making hats for quite some time and following other's patterns.

Thank you for visiting! I hope you all have a good night and have a great week :)
