Baby Shower, Knitting Baby Blanket, and Reading On

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. This has been a busy week, and it has just been busy these past two weeks in general. Last weekend was the baby shower for my sister and it was fun. I enjoyed hosting the virtual baby shower on Zoom, and it was nice giving her the gifts that have been in my living room for weeks. I did not get to give her the baby blanket in time. As you will see, I was not close to being done. I did tell her that I will be giving her another gift soon. I ordered the cupcakes below from Sullivan and Bleeker baking Co. in Toronto, and they were delicious! I love all of the baby shower details on the cupcakes and my sister most importantly love them too.

I have been making some more progress on the Simple Lines baby blanket. I hope to be able to gift it to her for next weekend. I will be knitting a lot in the next couple of weeks. I plan to wash it and block it first before I gift it to her.

My cross stitching hasn't made an appearance in awhile. I have added a bit more to the canvas. I started on the flower petals above the letters now.

I am finished reading Didn't See That Coming by Rachel Hollis and what I did see coming, was that I didn't think I would like this book... and I didn't like it much. I didn't feel that motivated to read it, but pushed on. I like her other books better and recommend picking those up. This one felt very much like her opinion and not really backed by research and that she was just talking sometimes. It felt a bit disorganized with no purpose. I am still reading Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg.  This is a great book and so motivating, and I enjoy reading it. I am starting to read The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. I bought this book recently after reading great reviews on Good Reads last year. I am so excited to read it.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! Even though life feels busy right now, it feels so good to slow down and to reflect on here about the things I love most, family, knitting, reading, and now cross stitching. I hope you liked today's post and join me again soon.

Have a great day!

  2. I was so interested to read your opinion on the new Rachel Hollis book. I read her first two but then got a bit bored of the whole uber cool motivation thing. It was just too much for me. I stopped following her on Instagram because to me it became so much about her brand and not about just helping people. Well done with the baby shower and the blanket so far. Stay safe.

    1. Yeah, it doesn't work for the type of book it is. That is one of the criticisms I read about the book and her whole brand is overdone and people didn't appreciate it in this book. With the pandemic and everything, should could have made it more supportive and given actionable steps for people dealing with tough events and grief, but she just basically told people get over it, and be happy. Thank you! stay safe too :)

    1. Thank you Karen! I hope she does and I am looking forward to seeing my baby nephew snuggling with it. Thanks, she said she enjoyed it and it was nice getting people together virtually and making a celebration of it still happen. Take care!
