Hand knitted gifts for Christmas

Hello!

I am back from celebrating Christmas with my family. I have just spent a couple of days at home relaxing and eating way too much chocolate. It has been wonderful! I wanted to share photos with you of the gifts I knitted this year for my mom, dad, and sister. I am already thinking of what I will be knitting for next year! it was so nice to be able to give everyone something knitted from "Needles and Wool".

First up are socks for my mom...

Then gave my sister a knitted cowl...

I gave my dad a knitted hat....

The hat was also wrapped with a bow, but I took the photo after he opened it.

I hope that if you were also celebrating with family you had a wonderful Christmas.

Knitted Cozy Hat

Hi Friends,

I have just completed a purple hat made from Loops and Threads cozy wool yesterday.  I started knitting the hat in September, but then it got really busy with school and it got put aside. There was only decreasing to do to complete the hat, so it was a quick finish last night.  Here it is below! And I used the same pattern as a previous post with a few changes. There is ribbed stitch which is knit two, purl two at the bottom, then it is knitting through the rest of the hat.

Pattern:

1. Cast on 2 stitches for every inch of the person's head or depends on your gauge (my head was 22 inches around so I casted on 44 stitches)

2. K2, p2 all the way around until ribbing is the length you desire.

3. K all the way around until hat measures 6" - 7" then start to decrease

4. To decrease: divide your hat up into groups of 8 stitches and put markers.  Decrease by knitting two stitches together in each group once you reach the marker and then knit the rest of the stitches.

 5. Do this until you arrive at 4 stitches and cut your yarn about 6" then pull the yarn through the stitches with a crochet hook or darning needle then weave the remaining yarn down through the top of the hat.

As always thank you for visiting!
Happy Holidays!

Before you leave...

To the Pumpkin Patch!

Hello Friends,

I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving if you celebrate or had a wonderful weekend.  I had a busy weekend because it was my Birthday on Saturday and then we had Thanksgiving festivities on Sunday and Monday.  It was so nice seeing the family and getting together with the special people in my life.  On Sunday I went over to the local farm with my parents and sister and we picked some pumpkins and took a lot of photos of the pumpkins and each other with the pumpkins haha.

This week I am off school on Reading week which is a study break for students.  It has been so nice so far having more time for myself and to do things with loved ones.  I hope you all have a great week!

Take care,
Lisa :)

Knitting for Colder Weather

Hello Friends,

How are you all doing? I am currently working on a couple new knitting projects which are almost done.  I was knitting a hat out of Loops & Thread wool and it's coming out nicely.  I then started knitting a scarf using Bernat wool.  The scarf I am knitting is called "lock stitch scarf" and I am using the pattern on the Bernat packaging of this wool.

Knitting Socks for Mother's Day

Hello Friends,

Yesterday was my first day off since I finished exams at school and completing my first year at University.  I am so happy to be done for the summer break. Now I just have one more year to go and I am done! Yesterday I worked on knitting my sock and I will knit more again today.  I have wanted to post and visit other blogs so much while I was in school but I needed to focus on my studies and my co-op.  I am so happy to be knitting and blogging again!
The socks are going to be a gift for my mom for Mother’s Day, so I hope I can get them done by then.  I am using the VeryPink Knits video on YouTube again to help me knit them.  It is so helpful to follow the steps along with the video, and I recommend if you are just starting to knit socks for the first time to look at Danielle's videos to learn how to knit socks with magic loop needles. Here is a photo of the progress so far I am just at the point where I am turning the heel:

The inside of the sock, look at the turning of the heel

The back of the sock and turning of the heel

I knitted alot yesterday while watching Teen Mom OG. That show is so addicting! I am glad they came back with another season of the old cast members to see how they are doing and get updates.  They were teen moms and had their babies when they were sixteen and it shows their struggles and accomplishments through it all.

I hope you all are doing well and I am looking forward to checking in to see all of your blogs and catch up!
Thank you all for visiting my blog again.

Take care,

Hello Friends,

I have been so busy with school work and my school placement that I have not been knitting and posting as much as I would like to! I decided to knit this heart up tonight for you ! I followed the pattern that I had posted in my last post to knit a heart using a pattern by Design Sponge.  It was easy to follow the pattern and I love how it turned out! I like the idea to make the blanket stitch in a different color it looks cute :)

Lots of love for all my followers on Valentine's Day! I hope you all have a great day with family, friends, and your sweethearts :)
