Christmas Eve! Preparations for Christmas and Recipes - Blogmas Day 24

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I am so happy today is Christmas Eve! This morning I read some of the Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews before work. Then I worked until 1 pm, then once we got the message that we could log off for the holidays, I had lunch and we watched an episode of Lost with Liam. Then I had a Facetime with my mom and sister to discuss tomorrow's Christmas plans. I did some laundry and cleaning. I took the photo below this morning of the Christmas tree with all the gifts I wrapped last night below. I feel good that is done already and ready to go for tonight and tomorrow.

I opened the last day of my advent calendar Lindt chocolates. The biggest chocolate is the teddy bear that I enjoyed after lunch today.

Once I was done cleaning, I made a side dish of bean casserole to bring to my sister's place tomorrow. She will be making the turkey dinner and hosting and I will be bringing the side dish. I used the recipe by Taste of Southern called Classic Green bean casserole. I liked the step by step photos on their site to follow along. It smells so good, I am looking forward to trying it.

I also will be making a French toast casserole for brunch tomorrow we are having Liam's mom over. I will use the recipe French Toast Casserole from Allrecipes.com. I love French toast, so I am looking forward to seeing how this recipe tastes.

Millie was sleeping tonight on the couch as I typed my blog post up before dinner. She was tired from a busy day watching me cleaning and cooking.

After dinner I will be watching It's a Wonderful Life as a tradition I do every Christmas Eve. I was hoping to start watching it earlier this year, but it was busy with preparations for tomorrow that I didn't watch it this afternoon. I hope I don't start too late because I want to try to go to bed in good time. I look forward to watching while I am knitting Millie's stocking.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! I hope you enjoyed your Christmas Eve today! Please join me again tomorrow for the last day of blogmas. I can't believe Christmas is tomorrow. I am excited and feeling more prepared now with the gifts all wrapped, cards written, and one dish made for tomorrow. I hope you are feeling excited for tomorrow and prepared.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Blogmas Day 24 - Merry Christmas Eve!

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. Merry Christmas Eve! Today I was so happy to have the day off work. Liam and I went out to a couple of stores to get some gifts and also some things we needed to celebrate tonight and tomorrow for Christmas. This morning before we went out, I got to knitting the last of the wreaths as Christmas gifts  for my family, and I had some coffee out of my favourite Christmas mug.

I bought a small poinsettia plant today while at the grocery store! They are so festive and look pretty on the counter in my kitchen.

I had my last chocolate out of the Lindtt advent calendar this afternoon. I love the bear chocolate from today that is always behind the door on the 24th.

I watched the movie, A Charlie Brown Christmas this afternoon while I knitted. It is a classic and also watched Santa Clause is Coming to Town from 1970. I love that one it is so cute and I watched both a lot when I was growing up and still watch these every year.

I knitted this white wreath for my sister. She likes having white ornaments on her Christmas tree. I also added the red bow to the ornament as well. The pattern I used for the wreath is the Christmas wreath ornament by Penny Carrington found on Ravelry. I used 3.25 mm needles.

Liam and I had a facetime chat with my family tonight as we opened pyjamas. We had the call after we drove over to my sister's place to drop off their Christmas gifts to open together tomorrow. It was snowing a lot and the visibility wasn't very good on the highway. I am glad we arrived home safely and then had dinner and did our call.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today! I love Christmas Eve and I am so happy to share my day with you. I hope you had a great day too and I will chat with you again tomorrow for my final Blogmas post on Christmas day! I am so excited for Christmas to be here tomorrow. Even though we will be celebrating with our families from a distance, I know it will still feel so special and magical as every Christmas day does.

Christmas Eve & Finished Merry Fair Isle Ornament- Blogmas Day 24

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. Today I worked from home until around 2 pm. I was so excited to get started on celebrations for Christmas Eve once we got the okay to sign out. I started wrapping gifts after I was done. First, I would like to share the finished ornament I knitted over the holidays. I used the Merry Fair Isle Ornament pattern from Yarnspirations Design Studio. It was a fun and challenging pattern and there are three other designs that I would like to knit. I used size US 3,3.25 mm double pointed needles to knit and used Joy DK yarn by Loops & Treads in the colorways of white and red.

My parents gave me a few more pieces for my village. I got some cars as you can see below the red vehicle and the taxi cab are new. I also got the lamp post in the center of the town.

I was also given the train seen below. This train used to go all the way around my parent's village.

My parents also gave me this reindeer that we used to have at home. I really love this reindeer so they gave me one. It is now holding some Rudolph stuffed animals beside my couch in the living room.

Reindeer passed down to me from my parents

Me around 5 years old with the reindeer
After I was done work I got to wrapping many gifts for Liam and my family. It was a long task but always enjoyable when I have the Christmas music on.

All wrapped and ready to go

I was gifted this cute yarn ball and needles from Liam's Dad and Step mom. I really love it. They also got me some other knitting related items like small scissors, a pin for my knitting bag, and stitch markers. They always get me nice pins and knitting related gifts I really appreciate it.

After I was done wrapping, I made some sugar cookies. I went for the recipe that said "easy sugar cookies". The recipe was pretty simple and so I made them and they were pretty crumbly. Eventually I added more butter and then they became easier to roll into balls and then I make cookie shapes. I had bought some whipped frosting and some green food coloring and mixed it up in a Ziploc and cut a hole at the bottom to make the trees. They taste pretty good!

My plan for the rest of the evening is to watch the classic movie It's a Wonderful Life as I do every Christmas Eve. I will eat some cookies and drink some wine. I am so excited for tomorrow and I hope that you have a wonderful day too. I hope you are finding some peace before the busy Christmas events tomorrow.

Merry Christmas!

Blogmas Day 24: Merry Christmas Eve and a DIY project

Hello Friends,

I hope you are enjoying the holidays. It is Christmas Eve today and it is another exciting day of the year. I worked this morning from home and then finished work at 1:30 pm which was nice. I then did some last minute Christmas shopping and then started wrapping some gifts. We just finished dinner and then we will start our celebrations soon.  My family have traditions that we have done each year. This year I spent Christmas Eve at our apartment with Liam and we are still going to be exchanging one gift later tonight which is something I did with my parents that I loved each year. Then watching my favourite movie "Its a Wonderful Life" later on with Liam.

Today I finished a very quick and easy DIY project to share with you. I made mason jar winter scenes.

To make this DIY project you will need craft glue, some small trees, mason jars or plastic jars like I have, and some white plastic snow flakes. You can also add whatever else you would like such as glitter for the snow, figures, animal figures and more.

I started by gluing the trees down onto the lids of the plastic containers. Then once those were dry I then added more glue onto the base and also onto the tree to add some snow onto the tree. Let it dry then screw the lids back onto the jars and then the project is finished.

Today I was wrapping some of my gifts for Liam and my family. Here are some of them and some that Liam wrapped for me. I still have some to wrap, I might be up a bit late tonight wrapping and preparing!

These are the two gifts Liam and I will be opening tonight. The blue bag is mine and the red wrapped box is Liam's. My mom gave me the blue bag because we have a tradition of opening pajamas on Christmas Eve and my mom got me some that I could wear tonight for Christmas.

I have filled Liam's stocking up with a bunch of things so you can see how weighed down the stocking gets when it is full! Good thing it is not for too long or the stocking might stretch.

Thank you for seeing what I am up to this Christmas Eve! What are you doing on Christmas Eve? I love these traditions as well and look forward to the night before Christmas as well. I will be posting again tomorrow for the final day of blogmas for this year. I know many of  you will be busy as will I, so I wanted to say in case you don't see tomorrow's post in time...

Merry Christmas!

I hope that you enjoy the day with family and friends and enjoy the spirit of giving and sharing wonderful memories together. I have really enjoyed blogmas this year sharing with all of you and reading your comments. Have the best day tomorrow!

Have a great night!
