Stitchy Saturday Heart Vine Lace Panel Stitch

Hello friends,

I hope you are doing well. I found this stitch on Pinterest yesterday and loved it! it is called the Heart Vine Lace Panel stitch it is so nice with hearts running up the more repetitions you make in the ten row pattern. I made a mistake on the second repeat which is why it is not a perfect a heart as the first one. I might redo the stitch and retake a photo. I love how the heart turned out on the bottom, so defined and lovely. The pattern was a little tricky but I think with practice it would get easier and fun to see the hearts emerge the more you knit.

Pattern:
Multiples of of 9 stitches, 10 rows make up the pattern
I knit two stitches at the end and beginning of the rows in my stitch swatch pictured above.

Row 1: k1, yo, k1, k2tog, p1, ssk, k1, yo, k1
Row 2 and all even rows: p4, k1, p4
Row 3:  k1, yo, k1, k2tog, p1, ssk, k1, yo, k1 (same as row 1)
Row 5: k2, k2tog, yo, p1, yo, ssk, k2
Row 7: k1, k2tog, yo, k1, p1, k1, yo, ssk, k1
Row 9: k2tog, yo, k2, p1, k2, yo, ssk
Row 10: p4, k1, p4

Pattern used from Knitting Bee

What I thought:
I like the stitch pattern, it can be a little difficult to knit up at times but it has a beautiful finish. I like the hearts and I think it would make a lovely Valentine's gift to knit up a scarf with this lace stitch or add this stitch onto a project to add the heart detail.

Knitter level:
I would say intermediate because it requires, yarn overs, slip stitches, and knitting two together. There are 10 rows in total and the even rows are the same. The pattern is harder to get in the rhythm of knitting compared to some others that are two or three row repeats. I had to always check the pattern to knit instead of just being able to knit out of memory. The even rows were simpler just being purl and knit.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, it is always nice to read your comments and get your feedback. Have you knitting this stitch pattern before? if so, what did you knit with the pattern?

  3. Can you shed some light on why your pattern is different on row 7 from knitting bee. I've tried the pattern so many times from knitting bee's and doesn't look the same. Did you change the pattern to compensate the issues??

    1. Hello, sorry I might have just accidentally copied row 5 twice when I wrote it up. I do see an error in my knitting swatch which is probably the repetition. I would follow the pattern from the link I posted instead and in the meantime I will be correcting my error. I am sorry about the mistake.
