Update on knitting projects

Hello Friends,

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying all your creative projects.  I have been really busy lately with school work but I have managed to do a bit of knitting this morning which was so great and relaxing.  I love knitting for that reason it calms and centers me.  I wanted to share with you the progress on the green scarf I have been knitting.  I have knitted 30 inches now and typically my scarves of this style are 77 inches so I have 47 inches left to knit.  I would like to finish it by this weekend to give to my friends.  Winter won't stay forever so there is a time limit! I have also included a photo of the baby wool I bought to knit a blanket to match the booties for my cousin who is expecting.  I have not started on the booties yet but will post photos of both the blanket and booties once I start!

Progress on the green infinity scarf! only 47 inches left to knit!

More baby wool, I need to get started on this project soon, my cousin's baby is due in February!

I hope you all have a great day!
Take care,

Finished the pink coaster and Warm Up America! Foundation

Hello Friends!

I just wanted to post photos of the finished coaster I made out of my gauge from the bamboo stitch day.  I finished it and I really enjoyed knitting the bamboo stitch it is such an easy stitch and turns out beautifully.

I also wanted to talk to you about a great cause called Warm Up America! Foundation.  I was at my local Michael's store today and I saw a box with a few knitted squares inside and was really curious about it.  I read on the box that you can donate knitted squares to form an afghan along with squares that other knitters have made.  I looked on the Micheal's website when I got home and found out that they are also collecting in Canada now from  October 25, 2013, to February 15, 2014.  The squares must be 7" by 9" and in knit or crochet.  I would really love to knit up some squares to go towards this great cause. I might knit some up with this bamboo stitch and the raspberry stitches that I learned recently. I would love if you would all knit or crochet a square and bring it to your local Micheal's store to help warm up America and Canada!

Photo from the Warm Up America Facebook page

Below I have posted the links to the various pages for more information. I would love to see the squares you knit up!

How to Knit the Bamboo Stitch!

Hello Friends!

One of my New Year's resolutions was to learn how to knit different stitches.  I decided to learn how to knit the bamboo stitch today.  I followed a great video posted by New Stitch A Day: knitting and crochet Video Tutorials called "New Stitch A Day: How to Knit the bamboo Stitch".

Below is a photo of my gauge of this stitch that I knitted!  I will be turning it into a coaster later tonight once I get home from work. I will also post photos of that :) I love the look of this stitch and the back is also quite nice too.
Knitting the bamboo stitch is actually quite relaxing because the pattern is repetitive and easy to do.  I liked knitting this up while I watched some videos on Swagbucks,

My gauge of the Bamboo Stitch
Pattern:

I casted on 22 stitches for my gauge.
The pattern works in multiples of 2 so you can choose any even number to cast on.

Start by casting on your desired number of stitches.
Row 1: yarn over, knit 2, then bring the yarn over over both knit stitches.
Row 2: purl all stitches
Row 3 to completion: repeat rows 1 and 2 until you are done.
Cast off

*Please see the video I posted if you need to watch a video for help on how to knit the stitch.

Thank you for visiting!
Take care,

Lisa

Knitting and Storing

Hello friends,

How is everyone? I hope you are having a great week so far.  I have been having a pretty good week.  I've started some online courses and I am enjoying them, I am knitting, working, and just spent some time with my amazing boyfriend tonight so I am feeling rather content right now.
I wanted to do a quick post update about my progress so far on the green scarf.  Slowly but surely I have been knitting some more of it.  I am hoping to knit more this week to complete it soon to give it to my friend. Below are a couple photos of the scarf so far, I still have a long way to go!

Also I just wanted to show you how I've been organizing my works in progress lately.  I bought these three bins from Walmart for $8 the other day and they are amazing for organizing and separating various projects on the go.  I've never had something set up like this before where my projects are both visible and accessible when I have more than one on the go.

Have a great night!
Take care,
Lisa

One knitted Infinity scarf done, one to go!

 Hello Friends,

How is everyone’s weekend going?  I have had a great weekend, spending time with my boyfriend, my family and seeing a friend today for lunch. I have also been busy with several projects on the go.  I like to keep busy though so I enjoy having plenty to keep myself busy! I am sure we have to do this anyways whether we like it or not!

Today I got busy knitting a dark green infinity scarf for another client.  I am enjoying knitting the scarves because I am so familiar with the pattern and I can enjoy watching television or videos online while knitting, it is a very relaxing time.  I use ribbed stitch (knit two, purl two) so it is very repetitive and simple.  I finished the gray infinity scarf below for another client last week.  I posted a photo of the scarf below and used it as a background to the green scarf in progress as well :)

Another grey infinity scarf complete!

I hope you all have a lovely end of your Sunday!
Take care,

Five Knitting Ideas for Valentine's Day!

Hello Friends,

Valentine's day is just around the corner! (22 days away) and I decided to share some knitting project ideas so you can have some fun things knitted up just in time for Valentine's day.  These are things you can knit up for a loved one or for yourself!  I would love to knit myself some of these things like the infinity scarf and the mug cozy, maybe I will!
Below are five of my favorite ideas of knitting ideas especially for Valentine's day.  All of these ideas and photos are from other people and I have included links to follow to see more of their work and the patterns for these projects.  I hope you enjoy looking through !

1.  Knitted candy pouches.
This idea was found on Pinterest! These are so cute and a great way to give candies as a gift to a loved one!

 2.  Valentines with a knitted heart.
I love this idea from The Sitting Tree, it incorporates the knitted touch and looks so sweet.  I think the heart would be fairly easy to knit up and the rest can come from the heart inside!

 3.  Red brick infinity scarf.
I like this idea found on Etsy from madamepeace.  It would be great to be wearing a cozy red infinity scarf around this time of the year!

4.  "Je T'aime" Valentine's mug cozy
I love this idea found on Pinterest,  I love the idea of knitting up a mug cozy for someone I love and adding a touch of French charm.  It is so cute and sweet and gives the message to your recipient that you are t hingking of them.

 5.  Knitted hearts with a message
I like this idea from The Wool Nest of knitting a little heart to go into any Valentine's gift bag with a little heartfelt note attached.  It is such a sweet idea.

Knitting baby booties and scarf progress!

Hello Friends,

I have been so busy lately I am sorry that I went so long without posting!  I am always been thinking of you and trying to find the time to post and say hello.  I have been knitting a scarf lately because a couple weeks ago I got a request for a couple scarves to be knitted for my sister's friends.  I have been busy knitting one up and want to finish soon to give it to them before the winter goes away.
Another plan I have in the works is to knit baby booties and a blanket for my cousin.  She is having her second child in February and I am so happy for her!  I want to knit her up some baby booties and a blanket to welcome the little one.  I am so excited to be knitting these things I think it will be a fun project.  Below I posted some photos of the wool I will use and the scarf in progress!

The wool I will use for the baby booties and blanket.  The wool is Loops & Threads "Snuggly Wuggly" and the color is called "Petal dots".

The scarf I am knitting for a returning customer!

Happy New Year!
I hope you all have a great day!
Take care,

Lisa
