Long Weekend, Finished Knitting Mitts, and Reading On

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. This weekend was a long weekend for us here in Canada, we had a holiday today called Family Day. I finished a couple of books and did some knitting project researching and wedding venue searching. I was off work todaym so I got chores done around the apartment, saw my family, and relaxed.

I have finished knitting the fingerless mittens for my mom and wanted to share them with you. I used 3.25 mm needles and used Patons Kroy sock yarn in the navy color. My mom selected this color of yarn for the fingerless mitts and I really like the color. I gave them to her today when I saw my family and glad to have given them to her while it is still cold out and she can use them before Spring. I am now planning what my next project will be using the Fleece Artist brand yarn, I wound up the yarn into a ball last night and will start knitting with it soon.

I finished reading Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty last night. It was such a good book! It had my interest from the start. I loved the development of the characters and their journeys and how they interacted with the setting and the things which transpired in the story. I was so intrigued by the whole setting of the house and the people and the circumstances that I kept wanting to read more especially toward the middle and end of the book. I definitely recommend this book. I also finished the book How to Win Friend and Influence People by Dale Carnegie which is a classic. I really feel like all the tips he provides are just as relevant today as they were when the book was written in 1936. I read some of the book every morning during my morning routine (to read more about my routine click here)  and use the tips I read about throughout the day and they help me to be aware of how I interact with others and the best way to handle certain situations. This weekend, I started reading Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman in the morning and also started reading A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult.

Ribbed Fingerless Mitts Knitted

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I finished knitting the ribbed fingerless mitts by Kathy North today. I used the pattern Ribbed Fingerless Mitts from Ravelry. It was a fun and quick project and the perfect pattern for a beginner at knitting fingerless mittens.

I used some fingering yarn by Manos Del Uruguay in the Alegria yarn in the Happy colorway.  I used bamboo circular needles in the size US 8 5 mm. The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn, so I cast on 48 stitches instead of the 32 they suggest to achieve the correct gauge. The yarn worked well with the pattern by added the extra stitches and the finished product are squishy, and soft fingerless mittens that I am looking forward to wearing this winter. You can read my notes on Ravelry here.

Knitting these mittens made me love knitting fingerless mittens and I can definitely see myself knitting some more of these in different colors and they would be perfect as gifts for friends and family. They are so comfortable and leave your fingers free for texting and knitting!

Thank you for visiting my blog today! I hope you are having a great weekend, and I will chat with you again this week!

Have a great day!
