Saturday Stitch: Moss Stitch

Hello Friends,

Today I was relieved to come home after work and put my feet up! I worked an eight hour shift.  I enjoyed it though mostly so can't complain.  The weather was beautiful here as well, I walked outside and could not believe how hot it was I actually took my sweater off which was an odd feeling after the harsh winter we had. After work today I decided also that it was time to try out another stitch! I found the Moss Stitch online and really liked the simplicity to it and the look of the stitch.  I followed a great video posted by Howcast on Youtube below and found the instructions really easy to follow!

Youtube video by Howcast on how to knit the Moss Stitch!

The Pattern:

Cast on any number of stitches desired
row 1: k1,p1 to end
row 2: knit the knits and purl the purls, k1, p1 pattern again
row 3: then do the opposite p1,k1
row 4: knit the knits and purl the purls, p1, k1.
continue this pattern until you have completed the length desired.

Hope you liked this stitch!
take care,

Lisa

  1. I love moss stitch as I think it always looks so pretty. I was going to do something with it recently but lost my concentration despite it being k1,p1 and made a pigs ear of the thing which has been ripped out and will not be spoken of again!! Hope yours is much more successful!

    1. haha that's too bad that you had a bad experience with the moss stitch! so far I have just knitted the swatch of it to practice the stitch then I will probably use it in a project. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I need to get my needles out again and practice my knitting skills. I put them away because i've been so very busy with the move and crochet is more soothing to me. It requires less thinking for me. :)
Wishing you a lovely holiday weekend.

  5. Hi Lisa, I love the tutorials that are available for us all to brush up on new stitches or try new ones. I have used the moss stitch a few times now, I love the simplicity of it and the texture too. The weather her turned a bit for a few days with lots of rain, today it is trying to behave but not quite managing it.
I am working on a Racerback crochet top for my daughter, I'm getting along with it quite well now I am past the 'getting the tension correct' correct bit. I have also been working in the garden this morning whilst the rain was away haha xx
    Have a good weekend
