Hello Friends!
One of my New Year's resolutions was to learn how to knit different stitches. I decided to learn how to knit the bamboo stitch today. I followed a great video posted by New Stitch A Day: knitting and crochet Video Tutorials called "New Stitch A Day: How to Knit the bamboo Stitch".
Below is a photo of my gauge of this stitch that I knitted! I will be turning it into a coaster later tonight once I get home from work. I will also post photos of that :) I love the look of this stitch and the back is also quite nice too.
Knitting the bamboo stitch is actually quite relaxing because the pattern is repetitive and easy to do. I liked knitting this up while I watched some videos on Swagbucks,

I casted on 22 stitches for my gauge.
The pattern works in multiples of 2 so you can choose any even number to cast on.
Start by casting on your desired number of stitches.
Row 1: yarn over, knit 2, then bring the yarn over over both knit stitches.
Row 2: purl all stitches
Row 3 to completion: repeat rows 1 and 2 until you are done.
Cast off

That looks like a very strong stitch. I've never seen that one before today.

I love knitting up new stitches, and I make them into blanket squares. The idea is that one day I'll have this amazing blanket with all kinds of beautiful stitches in every square. This looks like a very sturdy piece ... great coaster material! Wendy x
