Knitting and Reading On

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I haven't been as active lately on my blog and it is just because I have been more tired lately. I will do better and post again now as I want to get back into my routine. I miss this space when I am away for awhile.

I have made a bit more progress on the Rock Cap. I am working on the body of the hat now in moss stitch. It is a relaxing knit to work on while watching TV. I plan on knitting more as I watch This is Us tonight. I can't believe the show is coming to an end, it has been so amazing.

We have a bed for Millie on our desk and she was sleeping there all day while I worked. She is the perfect coworker!

I am still reading Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I am liking the story and the characters so far and look forward to reading more.

Easter Weekend Decor

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. This weekend was a nice weekend celebrating Easter with family. We went to visit Liam's family on Saturday for dinner, then on Sunday we had my family over for Easter dinner. I decorated our place for the day.

I bought the items below from Michaels the day before. They were all on sale which was also nice to save. The straw bunny with welcome sign, the treat container, and the basket with the stuffed animal bunny as a gift for my nephew. I was happy they still had a good selection.

My parents brought over this adorable cake from a local bakery. It was a delicious vanilla cake with custard in the middle.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! I hope that you also had a good weekend and have a great week ahead!

Knitting Happy Mail

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. This weekend was mostly spent relaxing and getting groceries. Not too much out of the ordinary. I was doing a lot of studying for my LOMA exams and working on finishing it this week to get my ALMI designation. This is consuming a lot of my focus and time right now. I was also happy to receive the cute knitting items I ordered off of Etsy this weekend from SaltWaterKnittingNL. The packaging was cute when I opened the envelope.

I had ordered these cactus stitch markers and the needle huggers. I found them when I was putting together a recent Friday Favourites post and had to get them.

These cactus stitch markers are so cute and I love how fun and colorful they are for the Spring. It is fun to get different stitch markers to try out for different seasons of the year.

These needle huggers are a great idea. So many times I put my project in my knitting bag or to the side, then I come back to it to find some stitches have come off of the needles. These huggers prevent that from happening.

I love how the stitch marker and the needle hugger look on the project. I like how the needle hugger is so snug to the needle and doesn't slide off. Also it works to keep the stitch marker from sliding off of my needles.

Thank you for visiting my blog today. I hope that you also had a good weekend and have a great week ahead.

Spring Organization - Friday Focus

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. This week I bought an under the sink organizer to hold more of those miscellaneous things that don't really have a home under the kitchen and powder room sinks. Today I put together the small storage unit I bought from Amazon and the brand is Simple Houseware. Millie was supervising me put it together.

It was easy to put together and then gave us more storage and organization under the downstairs bathroom sink. It was too wide for our upstairs bathroom so I will be buying a narrower one. We need the organization upstairs as well.

The instructions are easy to follow and in the photo below all of these three pieces just snapped together.

Then the only thing you have to screw together is the top piece of the storage unit. Which was very easy and quick.

Millie liked this as is and didn't want the drawers to be added. It made a nice little house for her.

I put it downstairs under our sink in our powder room to hold cleaning products in the bottom two drawers and then extra personal care products in the top drawer for now.

So far I am impressed by the quality and it is sturdy. I think this will come in handy for us to keep things more organized. I will probably by buying another one by the same brand if possible but narrower for the upstairs bathroom. This weekend I will be doing more Spring cleaning and organizing. It feels good to start cleaning up and throwing out things that we don't use and then organizing things we do use in a better way.

Have a great day!

Knitting the Rock Cap Hat and Reading On

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. This week has been going well at work and going by quickly. I am knitting more of the Rock Cap by Veronica Wilson. I am now knitting the body of the hat in the moss stitch. I am happy with how it is taking shape.

I am finished reading Expecting Better by Emily Oster. It was an interesting book and provided a lot of information on pregnancy. She provides information regarding myths and also the facts about things that help or cause problems during pregnancy. I am continuing to read Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It is a great story so far as I read on.

Weekend Working on the Puzzle and Relaxing

 Hello Friends,

I hope that you are doing well. The weekend flew by again and I didn't do as much as planned. I spent Saturday getting groceries, studying for my LOMA course, doing Laundry, and relaxing. On Sunday I studied more and then I chatted with my parents on Facetime for quite awhile and then relaxed and worked on my puzzle. Later on in the evening I watched Before the 90 days and planned my my Happy Planner for the week.

I worked more on the puzzle I had taken a bit of a break with the puzzle lately. It was nice and relaxing to work on it more.

I bought Millie a couple of new toys this weekend. Here she is below playing with the new toy that springs up when you push it down, has catnip inside and a feather on top. She went crazy over this toy right when I gave it to her. She was rolling around with it and was so playful.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! I hope that you also had a good weekend and have a great week ahead!

My Career and Reflection- Friday Focus

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I am happy it is finally Friday and feeling excited for more relaxing time this weekend. Today's Friday Focus I will be continuing on a topic from years ago when I made the career change from Early Childhood Educator to Office Administrator for an Insurance company. I shared my thoughts in this post on career changing at the time from 2017. I remember writing this post and it was going to be such a change and adjustment at the time and in some way change in identity. I know ever since I have been so much happier and I knew that someday I would find the right fit for myself. I am in a position now where I feel like I can grow and am appreciated for what I do. I have a manager that believes in me and I believe in myself as well.

I took an online course in Office Administration and then I applied to a job recruiter company to help me to become temporary worker to get my foot in the door and gain experience. I took on a couple short term jobs and then went to my current company on a contract. I won't share my company name for my privacy, but I ended up taking a data entry position as a maybe 3 month contract at the time. I had a feeling it would be right fit for me. I was so excited to start. I loved the team right away and the environment was supporting my career development. Of course, there were things at the beginning I had to work through, but it made me stronger and I gave myself grace because it was such a different work environment than I was used to. I remember being so excited to have my own desk and have an email signature. It is the little things.

About one year into my data entry position, I was offered a transfer to a new job at my company that was more pay and also would involve more phone calls and a variety of work than the previous role. I was hesitant at first, but then started to feel comfortable and enjoy the new job and it's opportunities I didn't have at my other department. I have now been in this role since May 2019. I feel there are opportunities for my future here and I continue to work hard and take on assignments wherever possible to learn and grow.

Thank you for visiting my blog today and I hope that you enjoyed reading about my career change and how it went for me. I am glad that when I was late twenties I took the leap of faith and now I am happy in the job I am in now and will continue to learn skills and take on new challenges.

Have a great day!
