Knitting and Reading Updates

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well.  We are still working on unpacking and settling in at our new home. It is such a nice change from the basement apartment we lived in to moving to a bright and fresh townhome. It was a good time to move as well to prepare for a Winter of staying mostly inside because of Covid... more time to tackle projects at home and settle in.

This week I knitted more of the men's rib ridge scarf pattern by Purl Avenue. I am happy it is almost finished, and will be ready to give as a Christmas gift to Liam.

I haven't been knitting the Amelia Beanie pattern by Elisa McLaughlin, but I will be picking up the needles soon to make some more progress in finishing it. It will be so nice and warm to wear in the winter.

I have been reading Atomic Habits by James Clear it is so good so far and I look forward to reading on and getting more tips. I haven't started Beach Read as I mentioned on Sunday, I will be getting the hold back soon.

How are you? I hope that you enjoy Thanksgiving tomorrow if you live in the United States. It is so nice that it is Holiday season now. I look forward to Christmas this year even though I know it will look so different. I hope that we can still celebrate and be with loved ones even if they are farther away.

Have a great day!

First big Snowfall and Uncertain Times

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I am still working through the unpacking and deciding where things go. Yesterday, Liam and I put most of the kitchen stuff away and washed gifts we received from family and friends. We secured the tarp over our outdoor furniture for the Winter. It is a new world for us because before we didn't have any outdoor space at all and now we have a terrace. We look forward to enjoying sitting out there in the warmer months. I was relieved today that we covered the terrace furniture yesterday, because today it was snowing all day! It was a Winter wonderland outside. I went for a walk around the neighborhood and went to a nearby store. It was nice to walk around and see everything coated in a blanket of white snow.  It is still snowing as I type this. It is cozy seeing the snow falling against the light outside our window.

I picked up the needles again today because I finally found my knitting bag that I had packed up. I knitted a few rows of the scarf for Liam for Christmas. I am knitting him the Men's rib ridge scarf pattern found on Ravelry by Purl Avenue.  It felt good to knit again and make a bit of progress. Christmas is fast approaching!

I have been reading Atomic Habits by James Clear. It is good so far and I am looking forward to reading more of his tips on keeping habits. I believe habits are so important to live life to the fullest. As James explains, if we even have some small habits we do each day to improve our lives, then by the end of the year we will see some improvement rather than doing nothing and seeing zero improvement. I also got my hold for Beach Read by Emily Henry back from the library using Overdrive, so I will start reading it again soon.

Thank you for visiting my blog today. I will get back to my regular posting schedule starting this week on Wednesdays and find my routine again. Last week was busy at work and also trying to get settled in. It was good to have the weekend to get more done. I hope that you are all doing well too. It is a difficult holiday season with Covid-19 still going on. In Toronto we are officially in lockdown tomorrow on Monday because cases kept rising so Ford made the announcement on Friday. So only essential shopping is available and more restrictions like only seeing household members which is what I have been doing lately. I am continuing to work from home. This whole year has been so different, working from home fulltime, and not seeing loved ones and friends as often. I look forward to normal life again once this is over and we can go back to visiting family and friends and going to a movie. Hopefully we can get the vaccine early next year and in 2021 will be moving in the right direction.

Take care and stay safe!

I Moved! Knitting and Reading Updates

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I have now moved to the condo-townhouse! It has been such a busy week packing up at our previous apartment and then moving everything over here. We got movers on Monday this week, and then had some more work to do afterwards. We were back and forth for the week. Today I had time to read and unpack at our new home and yesterday we did as well. I did not get much knitting and reading done during this time unfortunately, but I did finish a book one morning that I had started reading in the Summer.

Below is a photo of some bins from our previous apartment all stacked up and ready to go. We had so many of these bins all packed up and they were so helpful to store all of our things to move. We got these ones from Home Depot and got a lot from my parents as well.

The weekend before the movers came to move our furniture and things, we painted out living room and dining room. It took a couple of days and my dad came by to help Liam and I paint. We wanted to go from yellow to gray. We love the change. We chose the color "chic gray" from Behr we bought at Home Depot.

Before

After

Before the move, I was working on knitting the Amelia Slouch beanie pattern found on Ravelry by Elisa McLaughlin. I took the photo below about a week ago before this hectic week of moving. I had made a bit more progress on it. I will be starting to decrease it this week so I can finish it.  I also got The Five Minute Journal by Intelligent Change and have been using it daily ever since. It is so good for jotting down every morning what I am grateful for and what I hope to accomplish each day then reflecting on the day in the evening before bed. This practice has been so helpful during the move because each day I can focus on what I really wanted to get done.

I finished reading Normal People by Sally Rooney a couple of days ago when I got the hold back on Overdrive. I started reading the book Wow, No Thank You by Samantha Irby. I can already tell it will be so funny to read and something different for me to enjoy. It is nice to read something funny and light that is relatable and a different style than I normally read. Today I started reading the book Atomic Habits by James Clear. I have heard it is such a good book, so I am excited to read more.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I will be back to my usual posting this week. Thank you for your patience as it was hectic moving and I missed catching up with all of you for the week.

Have a great day!
