Knitting Spiral Socks, Reading, and Plant Lady Updates

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I am sick right now with a cold so I took the day off work to rest and relax. I have a very sore throat and have been coughing. I hope this goes away soon. Today I have been doing a lot of  YouTube video watching, knitting. and some gaming. I have been knitting more of the Patons Spiral sock and really love the pattern, it is so fun if you would like to check it out, the pattern is free on Ravelry. I have also been continuing  to read The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory. It is such a cute and fun read and captures the sweet connection and love between the two characters so well.

My philodendron has grown so much since I last posted. It is now reaching down pretty low and I just love the look of these plants when they get longer. My fiance does not like this as much.

This is a plant my sister got me and is still doing quite well. It is small and has a bit of green moss by the roots. I have to mist every once and awhile but it is fairly easy to take care of. I love its green and yellow leaves.

My African violets are still alive but have not flowered in so long now. I wonder if they get enough sun sometimes as we live in a basement apartment and it might be more difficult to get the sun even in the Summer.

Vacation in Myrtle Beach, Knitting Updates, and Reading On

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I just got back from a week long trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We stayed at the Sheraton Broadway Plantation resort with Liam's family. It was so fun and I enjoyed going down to the pool every morning and especially enjoyed the lazy river. It was so hot and humid each day but I got used to it by the end of the trip and just going to the pool and spending time in the air conditioning on and off. I really feel like I needed this trip right now because after starting the new position at my company I hadn't really taken a break and this was the perfect trip for some rest and relaxation.

I also got quite a bit of knitting done on the spiral sock I started while down there. I knitted a lot in our room and on the balcony at the resort and also knit by the pool. I am using the Patons spiral socks pattern and it is such a good sock project for me to take on vacation because it is simple and fun to knit. I also love how the sock is turning out with the self striping yarn. The yarn I am using is Patons Kroy sock yarn with 3.25 mm bamboo double pointed needles. Click here to see my notes on the socks on Ravelry. I also finished knitting the second dishcloth I mentioned in the last blog post. I will share the finished dishcloth in my next post.

Knitting by the pool = the best

Knitting on our balcony with a refreshing drink

I had a great time going to the pool, going on shopping trips and Target especially, spending time with family, and mini putting.

Didn't win but had fun!

Every morning breakfast on the balcony, my favorite

I finished reading A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult. I really enjoyed this book because it was really focused on the controversial issue of abortion and the two sides of the argument on the topic. It also explained the position from both pro-choice and pro-life activists. Jodi Picoult explains at the end of the book that she interviewed both pro-choice and pro-life to understand their perspectives in order to write this book and also witnessed actual abortions, she really researched for the book and took this important topic seriously.
I started reading The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory while I was on vacation. It is such a cute and fun book so far. I am enjoying reading about the topic of weddings as well because my wedding is next year and I am getting excited.

What are you working on and reading right now?

Change of Plans in Knitting and Reading On

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. It has been so hot this weekend yesterday was humid and too hot and today was more breezy which was so much better. I did a bit of shopping for summer clothes yesterday and I also went to Michaels to buy some yarn to start knitting some socks. I think socks will be a fun knit to take along with me in the summer rather than a big shawl to carry around. I will start the shawl sometime in August. The shawl is on hold for now because I couldn't find the length of circular needles required for the project and I might be looking for a new one. In the meantime I will be working on finishing the second dishcloth made with Bernat cotton yarn in the colorway tie dye and then getting started on knitting the socks.

Tie dye dishcloth in the making

I bought two skeins of Patons Kroy yarn in the colorway 'coastal stripes' to knit the socks. I am looking forward to starting the socks soon it has been awhile since I have knitted a pair. I am going to use the pattern spiral socks #146 by Patons. I have knitted socks with this pattern before as a gift to my mom and I really enjoyed knitting them in the summer and taking them on trips so they will be a fun project to knit while at the beach or by the pool.

I am almost done reading a Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult and I am enjoying it. It is interesting how the author speaks to all the different points of view of all of the hostages and the shooter in that kind of scary situation. I have also started reading What to Expect Before You're Expecting by Heidi Murkoff. So far I have been enjoying reading it and there are a lot of good tips on how you and your partner can get healthy before trying to conceive. It will still be awhile before I have a baby, but I wanted to read up on it now, so I can make sure I am ready when it is time to start a family.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the weekend!
