Halloween traditions some old and some new..

Hello friends,

It is Halloween tomorrow! At the daycare the children are going to dress up and ECEs will too! I am going to put on a witch hat and some green makeup and wear all black.  I am looking forward to seeing all the cute costumes that the children come in. It is my first and only Halloween at this particular daycare center because I am leaving next week.  I decided I wanted to work elsewhere and explore other options :)

At night I will be handing out Halloween candies as I do every year and watching my favorite Halloween movie “Double, Double, Toil and Trouble”.  It's kind of nerdy that I still watch this movie every year but it’s become tradition for my sister and I to watch it.  This year she is away at University so I guess it will be just me and my bowl of candies waiting for Trick-or-treaters.

A small pumpkin and a few corn...

Hello friends,

I like to start with "Hello friends" because after working with children in child care for almost 5 years you say "friends" when referring to the entire group and it is easier when calling them to follow you during transitions.

I went to the local farm today and picked up a small pumpkin for my boyfriend, some roasted peanuts, a few Indian corn (3 for $2.50 it was a deal), and some golden raspberries.  My parents and sister looked down at the raspberries and then at me and asked me "why are you buying those?"  but I bought them anyhow they look strange but I heard they are delicious.

I was thinking of using the Indian corn to make a wreath, so I might buy a wreath from Michaels and put one together as a DIY one day :)

I've also been knitting more lately.  I finished the hat in the dark gray and white yarn and now I am knitting up some mittens to match. I am almost done my first mitten, I will post a picture once I am done both :)  I am going to be starting some Christmas gifts soon, I can't wait!

Take care and goodnight!

Take care,

Gray and white hat completed and mittens soon to match ;)

Hello friends,

It has been a chilly weekend and it is definitely feeling like fall is in the air now!  I always  feel excited to feel that cold air because it means that it is time to pull out the hats, mittens, and scarves you've knitted up for yourself and that others have knitted you.  I am speaking completely bias right now that everyone should own a handmade hat, mittens, and scarf... well i think everyone should! there is something about wearing something that you have knitted or someone you know has knitted.  It makes you feel like you are getting a hug every time you put it on.  You think "Wow someone knitted this for me, they care about me being warm".  Well I hope that everyone I have knitted for has this feeling when they wear something I've knitted them because that would be pretty special.
Just this past Friday I completed a hat made from "thick and quick" Lion Brand wool. I am kind of obsessed with this yarn, it's so soft and really is "quick" to knit. I love the colors together :)  the wool was already solid gray then would switch to a gray and white stripe so I can't really take the credit for switching yarns ;)  I am going to start knitting mittens today that match the hat,  I still haven't knitted a set and would love to have a matching hat and mittens set that I have knitted up :)
So here are a few pictures of the finished project! I will also be posting to Pinterest I am going to be keeping it updated if you also want to check that out and see some things I've knitted up or some ideas and other interests of mine.  I spent some of the morning updating Pinterest.  I think it's really addicting once you start pinning and liking photos there are so many great ideas out there!

Green infinity scarf done!

Hello friends,

I have completed yet another infinity scarf ! my cousin requested one like the one I had just completed only in green instead,  I quickly got to work buying three balls of "Thick and quick" Lion Brand wool and knitting it up as fast as I could.  I enjoyed the process and I also found it amazing that I could complete a scarf in a week! (that's what passion and a deadline will do for you!) so here it is, completed and I am modeling in the photo.  I can't wait until she receives it to see her reaction :)

Take care!

Lisa :)

"thick and quick" Infinity scarf done and a hat on the horizon..

Hello friends!

I am so sorry for my lack of posting I have been busy lately.  I have been working on knitting a scarf though! :)   I finished an infinity scarf for my sister today! and I am so excited to share the photos of it's completion with you!

I will be knitting some mittens and a hat with the wool below!  it is the same texture as the scarf I just completed.  It is Lion Brand Wool-Ease "Thick and Easy".  I have started to really enjoy knitting with thicker wool, it feels so soft and knits up really fast! which is always a plus ;)

I bought the pillow below from Bed Bath and Beyond.  I thought some of you would appreciate how cute the pom poms are! I just love this pillow its so cute :)

Have a great rest of your weekend everyone! and thank you for your continued support !
