Spring is Finally Here and Knitting Updates

Hello Friends,

I hope you are all doing well. I am so happy it is finally starting to feel warmer and like Spring. Last night it was enjoyable to walk around downtown with some friends and not freezing and wanting to go back inside.

This week I made some progress on the Wool and the Gang Farrah Billie Jean top. I knitted many rows of the back piece trying to make more progress to finish it soon. I am using the yarn from the Wool and the Gang Billie Jean Farrah top kit.

I read more of Commonwealth by Ann Patchett. It is an interesting read so far and I am looking forward to reading more. I feel like it will be interesting to find out how they are all connected and when they reflect on the past and what happened at the party at the beginning of the book. My book is due at the library soon, so I better get reading!

I got these two flowers last weekend, they are so pretty and fit nicely into these lovely pots I received for Christmas from my sister's fiancée. There is a third pot to this set, but I will have to get a third plant for it. It was such a nice Spring day last weekend after the storm we had the previous weekend and it was nice to add a couple pretty plants to the collection.

Knitting the Wool and the Gang Top and Reading On

Hello Friends,

I hope you are all doing well. This week felt like it went by so fast. I am enjoying being back at work now and liking working in office administration. It was a big career change for me and I am happy I am liking this type of work. You can read more about my change in career from an old post I wrote last November: 'Career Change, Job Searching, and New Beginnings'.

This week I made some progress on knitting the back piece of the Wool and the Gang Farrah Billie Jean top by knitting some more rows. I would like to make more progress over the weekend and hopefully finish the piece next week by working on it a bit each day. We shall see how the week goes.

I am currently reading Commonwealth by Ann Patchett and I am already really interested in the story line and seeing what will happen. So far it is making me think of the book Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty when there is a barbecue and you knew something big was about to happen (Also a really good book!). I like that in Commonwealth there are multiple characters and you learn about them in depth because of how the book switches to their different perspectives. I am looking forward to reading more of Commonwealth and seeing what these characters get involved in as I read further. Below is a photo of the book Commonwealth from the library with a "Read the North" tote from Indigo I received as a gift and it now comes with me to pick up library books and pack my books if I am travelling.

Hope you have a great day!

Knitting and Reading Updates

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I had a busy week working extra hours and catching up on reading. I actually did not do much knitting this week,  but I did finish reading Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman and I really liked it. Some parts of the book were tough to read and Eleanor was dealing with a lot of pain from her past. I especially enjoyed reading towards the end of the book. I would recommend this book because Eleanor is an interesting character and I thought that the way she saw the world and others was funny at times and I loved her opinions. I am starting to read Commonwealth now by Ann Patchett and I am hoping I enjoy it just as well. It is another one which has caught my eye and so many people have read it. I hope to do some more knitting on the Wool and the Gang Farrah Billie Jean top this weekend and next week to make more progress on the project. I hope to also start a new small project soon as well, it is always fun to have a couple projects on the go! Maybe socks?

Finished Knitting Barley Light Beanie

Hello Friends,

I hope you are all doing well. I had a wonderful Easter weekend spending time with family. I got a lot of knitting done on my Barley Light beanie as well and I am happy to say I am done!  It was a fun knit and I was so excited to finally knit a beanie. I like the fit although I was thinking it was large when it was done. I had knitted the longest length because I wanted more of a slouch which I definitely got but I have to play around with it to make it look right and slouchy instead of just sticking up or out.

Details:
Pattern: Barley Light by Tin Can Knits from Ravelry
Yarn: Patons Kroy Socks yarn in the colorway Flax (I used one full skein and a bit of the second I purchased to complete the hat.)
Needles: double-pointed needles sizes US 2.75 mm and US 3.25 mm
