DIY: Push pin frame decor

 

Hello everyone!  I found a DIY idea on google images from the Modgepodge blog (click here to visit!) and I decided to make my own.  It was such a cheap idea for a DIY so I was very interested in trying out something similar.  I had bought some fabric covered push pins from the dollar store awhile back and I knew I had some frames tucked away so I thought why not?  I will begin with a list of the materials you would need to get started then I will included step by step instructions :) hope you enjoy!

Materials:

1. Scrap booking paper color of your choice

2. push pins 

3. frame 

4. glue gun 

Time:

10 minutes 

Gather up your materials and you are ready to get started! make sure you have a clear space to work from.

 STEP ONE:

Decide where you want to put your push pins on the paper.  Add some glue onto the back of your push pin after bending the back of the push pin back with pliers.

OR: put glue onto paper first, then stick push pin onto the paper.

Finish gluing all of your push pins where you want them to be to complete your design.  I decided to use two patterns so it is simple.  I chose the white and black to match the frame I chose and red and white to match the red from the paper.  

 STEP TWO:

Slip your design into a frame and voila! you have your new piece of decor that took no time to make at all and very inexpensive.

Halloween traditions some old and some new..

Hello friends,

 It is Halloween tomorrow! At the daycare the children are going to dress up and ECEs will too! I am going to put on a witch hat and some green makeup and wear all black.  I am looking forward to seeing all the cute costumes that the children come in. It is my first and only Halloween at this particular daycare center because I am leaving next week.  I decided I wanted to work elsewhere and explore other options :)

At night I will be handing out Halloween candies as I do every year and watching my favorite Halloween movie “Double, Double, Toil and Trouble”.  It's kind of nerdy that I still watch this movie every year but it’s become tradition for my sister and I to watch it.  This year she is away at University so I guess it will be just me and my bowl of candies waiting for Trick-or-treaters.

A small pumpkin and a few corn...

Hello friends,

I like to start with "Hello friends" because after working with children in child care for almost 5 years you say "friends" when referring to the entire group and it is easier when calling them to follow you during transitions.

I went to the local farm today and picked up a small pumpkin for my boyfriend, some roasted peanuts, a few Indian corn (3 for $2.50 it was a deal), and some golden raspberries.  My parents and sister looked down at the raspberries and then at me and asked me "why are you buying those?"  but I bought them anyhow they look strange but I heard they are delicious.

I was thinking of using the Indian corn to make a wreath, so I might buy a wreath from Michaels and put one together as a DIY one day :)

I've also been knitting more lately.  I finished the hat in the dark gray and white yarn and now I am knitting up some mittens to match. I am almost done my first mitten, I will post a picture once I am done both :)  I am going to be starting some Christmas gifts soon, I can't wait!
