Saturday Stitch - Edelweiss Stitch

Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. Last night I knitted this edelweiss stitch found on a YouTube tutorial. The name of the stitch makes me think of the song Edelweiss from the movie The Sound of Music. I loved that song from the movie. This stitch looked so nice and I like that it is a 4 row repeat and easy to knit up and get into the pattern and you will have it memorized in no time. The pattern has a nice texture and can be used for scarves, baby clothes, and sweaters. 

Pattern:

CO multiples of 2 + 1 st

Row 1 and 3: Knit across

Row 2: K1, *p2tog, don’t drop it of left needle, k2tog*. Repeat from * to * to the end of the row.

Row 4: *p2tog, don’t drop it off the left needle, k2tog*. Repeat from * to *, ending with K1.

These four rows create the pattern. Keep knitting until the desired length is reached.

When finished, BO knitwise after a fourth row

Knitted Ornament Progress and Reading On

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. Thank you all for the congratulations last week on the purchase of our townhouse. We are so excited to move and it was so nice sharing the news with you. I look forward to our next visit to the house to take measurements and see it after buying it. 

I knitted more of the ornament this week and see the tree emerging more. I love this pattern by Patons. It is called the Merry Fair Isle Ornament and it is one of the five different patterns available to knit. It feels so festive knitting it. I can't believe Christmas is 121 days away now that makes me excited! If you didn't know how crazy I was for Christmas now you do! I can't wait to hang this ornament on our tree in our new home.

I am still reading Everything is F*cked by Mark Manson. It is really interesting and he is talking about hope right now in the book. It makes me really realize that hope it a very important motivator in our lives. I am also reading Sorry I'm late I Didn't Want to Come by Jessica Pan. She is trying out different things in order to help herself to meet new people and try out new things she finds scary. It is interesting to follow along with her journey for the year and I look forward to reading more.

Saturday Stitch - Ladder Stitch

 Hello Friends,

I hope you are doing well. Today I knitted the ladder stitch for the stitch of the week. It is a simple pattern and it ends up looking similar to basket weave with  the squares of knit and purl. There is the row of knit stitches which separates the boxes which creates the design of the "ladder". This stitch can add some nice texture to a project. It was a quick and easy knitting pattern and fun to try out!

Pattern: 

Multiples of 8+ 5. (I cast on 13 for this swatch)

Row 1(RS): K5, *p3, k5; rep from * to end.

Row 2: P5, *k3, p5; rep from the * to end. 

Row 3 and 4: Rep the last two rows once more.

Row 5: K1, *p3, k5; rep from * to last 4 sts, p3, k1.

Row 6: P1, *k3,p5; rep from * to last 4 sts k3, p1.

Row 7 and 8: Rep the last 2 rows once more.

Rep these 8 rows.
