Runner's eats

Some things runners eat and drink and why according to runnersworld.com

Eggs: whole eggs helps control appetite.  Egg protein is easy for your body to absorb, which makes it a good muscle-repair food.

Blueberries Researchers believe anthocyanidins in blueberries are responsible for the protective benefits.

Chocolate milk ( I like this one)  to follow long workouts. And the reason is that you gain more lean muscle and lose more body fat because of the milk’s protein.
Fruits and vegetables- healthy! fills you up with less calories.
Seeds and food made from seeds- packed with protein and essential fats, bioactive compounds, such as phenolic compounds and ferulic acid, which act as antioxidants.
Dairy - dairy provides runner's with protein to help them to heal and make a speedy recovery.
I will be eating more of these things to get the right runner's diet to be fit and healthy for my next run!

take care,

Update on 5k training

Hey everyone,

Today at the gym on the treadmill I walked 5 minutes briskly, then ran for 10 minutes, got a little tired so then resumed walking briskly again, then ran for another 5 minutes.
It's coming along but I know I still have a ways to go before I can run the entire 5k, which is 3.2 miles for those who were wondering.  I did one last summer but I got tired soon into the run and I had to walk at times out of fatigue.  Well I don't want that to happen again, so I am going to work my butt off to train and get in the best shape ever for this special event! I also raised $52 so far for Colorectal Cancer (which is the cause I am running for).
I am also going to begin eating better and researching what runners eat and drink to stay healthy.  I  will be posting what I find in my research shortly.
My friend is going to be climbing the CN Tower for WWF in April so I helped her out and donated $20 to her cause after she was so generous as to donate to mine.  We helped each other out :)

Have a good night!

Training for a 5k!

Hello :)

I am training for a 5k run that is happening in May.  I am doing the Cool Running- Couch-to-5k running plan.  Even though I can run for 15 minutes at a time I decided to listen to what they said on the website and start from the beginnng to build up the strength and endurance I'd need to run the entire 5k.  Tonight I did the Week 1 workout 2, which was "Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes".  I did this at the gym tonight and admit I felt kind of silly jogging then walking, jogging then walking again.... but it will be worth it!

I really love running and the solitude aspect of it.  I love that it is something that is all about me.  It is about my fitness and my time.  I hope that this plan works and I feel even stronger by the end of it :)
